Reds Star Earns WC Bat Title
Batting titles are tough to come by. It takes a lot of talent, hard work, consistency, few slumps, good health and a little luck. <Rafael Mena:player#14526> of the <San Francisco Reds:team#272> put it all together this year and led the Western Conference with a .356 batting average (213-599). The Reds first baseman played in 150 games, ending the season with 33 doubles, 1 triple, 35 home runs, 128 runs and 134 runs batted in. "When you work hard, good things happen," <Mena:player#14526> explained to reporters after winning the coveted award. "Slumps happen to everyone, but you won't break out of one without hard work. I think that's one of the prime reasons for my success this season."
